Anxiety is a common mental illness that is on the rise. According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA), 40 million American adults suffer from anxiety disorders each year. Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the United States and are considered highly treatable.
Only 37% of people affected by anxiety receive treatment. The 63% of Americans who suffer from anxiety and have not received treatment may be best suited to explore anxiety relief through CBD products.

How CBD helps anxiety
It is increasingly accepted that CBD helps patients suffering from anxiety and anxiety-related disorders. The Permanente Journal is a peer-reviewed publication covering scientific research and innovative medical care published by the Kaiser Permanente medical network. In 2019, The Permanente Journal published the results of a U.S. psychiatric research project on the efficacy of CBD in the treatment of anxiety and associated insomnia.
The study, titled “Cannabidiol in Anxiety and Sleep: A Large Case Series,” tracked the outcomes of 103 adults under clinical care for anxiety and depression at a Fort Collins, Colorado, mental health center that focuses on integrative medicine and psychiatry.
Nearly all patients received 25 mg doses of CBD in capsule form. A minority of patients received 50 mg or 75 mg of CBD. One patient with schizoaffective disorder and a history of trauma gradually increased to 175 mg.
In the first month of receiving the cannabidiol dose, 79.2% of patients in the study experienced a decrease in anxiety levels. Those anxiety levels remained reduced for the duration of the study. Sleep scores showed a 66.7 percent improvement with cannabidiol treatment, but fluctuated.
This study is just one example of how CBD products can help treat anxiety.
How to use CBD for anxiety
CBD is an active ingredient of the hemp plant that does not produce any psychoactive reaction. Unlike THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) CBD does not produce any intoxicating effects, although there may be traces of the psychoactive cannabinoid (in concentrations of less than 0.3%).
CBD oils, jelly beans, and other products use one of three common varieties of CBD:
-Full-spectrum CBD, the richest CBD, contains the full cohort of phytochemicals (Phyto meaning from the plant) that the hemp plant has to offer. All cannabinoids, terpenes, and oils are present in full-spectrum CBD, including detectable amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
-Broad-spectrum CBD contains all of the phytochemicals that full-spectrum CBD has, minus THC.
-CBD isolate is a distillation of pure CBD. CBD isolate does not contain any other phytochemicals.
Methods of ingestion
The CBD product for beginners should be in a form of ingestion where the dosage can be precisely controlled. Tinctures are usually an excellent first choice. If you enjoyed this article then check out the best cbd oil uk for further information about CBD for Anxiety.
CBD oils and tinctures are best applied under the tongue (sublingually) in a measured dose with a dropper. Allow the liquid to pool under the tongue for at least 20 seconds before swallowing.
After checking the dosage and CBD variation, CBD gummies and candies are popped in the mouth and chewed meditatively. However, a tincture may better serve those who wish to watch their sugar intake.
